Essential For BLOGS & Articles: How To Create And Manage Posts in WordPress? - WordPress Tutorial
Hey, my name is Shayan from Creatify Design, and in this video, we are going to talk about WordPress Posts.
Now, if you are planning to have a blog or simply different Articles on your website, then you definitely want to watch this video to the end because that's what we are covering in this video with WordPress Posts and we are starting right now!
Access Posts in WordPress
To access your posts in WordPress, you need to login to your WordPress dashboard and then choose "Posts" from the left sidebar menu.
Here you can access all of your posts in one place and also, you can see the name of the post, the author, categories, tags, comments, and the publish date.
If you hover your mouse on any of these posts, you will see a few different options that you can make with each page such as "Edit", "Bin/Move to Trash" and "Preview".
As I explained previously, the difference between "Edit" and "Quick Edit" is that if you click on "Edit" then you can modify the content of that page, but if you click on "Quick Edit" you can only change the basics such as the "Title", "Date", etc.
If you delete a page or set a page as a draft, then you can access them always from this little menu up here.
To create a new page, you can simply click on "Add A New Post" from the sidebar menu or click on the blue "Add new" button.
Then, you will see a new window opens, and here is your new post. Now as a bonus tip for you all, you can install the "Classic Editor" plugin and that gives you more options and control over your new post.
But, if you prefer to use the default page view for your WordPress website, then you can continue to do so.
When you decide to add a new post, you can choose a title as well as a custom URL for your page.
On the right side, you have all the options available to publish or schedule a post as well as if you like to set password protection on your post to limit it for special users.
Further on you can choose or create a category for your post such as WordPress Tutorial, or Web Design Tutorial.
You can also set a picture for your post and this picture will be used on Google as well as when you try to send the link of this post to anyone. So the picture here will function as a thumbnail for your page.
The most ideal WordPress featured image size is 1200 x 628 pixels and these dimensions generally satisfy most WP blog themes.
Here is another quick tip to make your website more SEO friendly, when you want to upload a picture to your website, always try to fill in the metadata information such as the title, subtitle, tags, and ratings of your picture. This will help Google Robots to index your website easier and faster.
Now at the center of the page, you can add text, insert media, or links. Yes, this is not how you can create a beautiful article. To keep this tutorial short and comprehensive we are explaining that in another video.
Finally, if your page is ready, you can hit the publish button and your page will be accessible to the public.
Now that you are familiar with WordPress Posts and you have configured its settings, it's time to learn about "WordPress Plugins", and that's what we have covered in the next video. So make sure to watch it and consider subscribing to receive notifications about our next videos.
