How To Create And Manage Pages in WordPress? - WordPress Tutorial 2020 #3
Hey, my name is Shayan from Creatify Design, and in this article, we are going to talk about WordPress Pages.
With WordPress Pages you can create different pages for your website such as the Landing Page, About Us, Contact Us, Shop, and so on.
So it's very important to know how you can create a new page, how to schedule a page, how to set password protection, and finally how to publish a page in WordPress. That's exactly what we have covered in this article.
Access Pages in WordPress
To access your pages in WordPress, you need to login to your WordPress Dashboard and then choose "Pages" from the left sidebar menu.
Here you can access all of your pages in one place and also, you can see the name of the page, the author, the number of comments, and the publish date.
If you hover your mouse on any of these pages, you will see a few options that you can make with each page such as "Edit", "Bin/Move to Trash" and "Preview".
The difference between "Edit" and "Quick Edit" is that if you click on "Edit" then you can modify the content of that page, but if you click on "Quick Edit" you can only change the basics such as the "Title", "Date", etc.
If you delete a page or set a page as a draft, then you can access them always from the little menu up there.
Create A New Page in WordPress
To create a new page, you can simply click on "Add A New Page" from the sidebar menu or click on the blue "Add new" button.
Then, you will see a new window opens, and here is your new page. Now as a bonus tip for you all, you can install the "Classic Editor" plugin and that gives you more options and control over your new page.
But, if you prefer to use the default page view for your WordPress website, then you can continue to do so.
Edit Pages in WordPress
When you decide to add a new page, you can choose a title as well as a custom URL for your page.
On the left side, you have all the options available to publish or schedule a page as well as if you like to set password protection on your page to limit it for special users.
Further on, you can choose a parent page for your new page which means that this page will function as a sub-page for the parent page.
You can also set a picture for your page and this picture will be used on Google as well as when you try to send the link of this page to anyone. So the picture here will function as a thumbnail for your page.
The most ideal WordPress featured image size is 1200 x 628 pixels and these dimensions generally satisfy most WP blog themes.
Here is another quick tip to make your website more SEO friendly, when you want to upload a picture to your website, always try to fill in the metadata information such as the title, subtitle, tags, and ratings of your picture. This will help Google Robots to index your website easier and faster.
Now at the center of the page, you can add text, insert media, or links. Yes, this is not how you can create a landing page. To keep this tutorial short and comprehensive we are explaining that in another video.
Publish Pages in WordPress
Finally, if your page is ready, you can hit the publish button and your page will be accessible to the public.
Now that you are familiar with WordPress Pages and you have configured its settings, it's time to learn about "Posts", and that's what we have covered in the next video. So make sure to watch it and consider subscribing to receive notifications about our next videos.
